The Goddess of WWE
Alexa BlissIt almost doesn’t seem possible that so much bad attitude can fit into Alexa Bliss’ 5-foot-1 frame. Sly, sassy and sporting a whole lot of ferocity, Alexa has been a fierce competitor her entire life, participating in softball, track and kickboxing since her youth, excelling especially in gymnastics and eventually becoming a Division I cheerleader. Alexa even entered the world of competitive bodybuilding, where she became one of the youngest competitors to receive her IFBB Professional status. With such an incredible athletic background, it’s little wonder that Alexa quickly became one of NXT’s most dangerous female Superstars. Though she never captured the NXT Women’s Title, she was a constant threat in the division, pushing the likes of Bayley and Carmella to their limits. As a SmackDown LIVE competitor, she ascended to the top of its Women’s division to become a two-time SmackDown Women's Champion. Weeks after joining Monday Night Raw in the Superstar Shake-up, Alexa Bliss made history at WWE Payback, reigning supreme over Bayley in a hard-fought contest to become the first Superstar to win both the SmackDown Women's Championship and the Raw Women's Championship. Bliss might be her name, but get on her bad side (which isn’t hard to do) and you’ll soon learn that there’s nothing heavenly about Alexa’s demeanor.

Charlotte Flair’s SmackDown Women’s Championship victory this past Tuesday on SmackDown LIVE brought not only a new matchup to Survivor Series, but also a battle between, arguably, 2017’s two most dominant female Superstars. It should come as no surprise then that a big fight feel filled the air in Houston’s Toyota Center as the only two women to ever hold both the Raw and SmackDown Women’s Titles squared off in head-to-head competition. Flair immediately used her size and strength advantages to take control. Bliss was not afraid, though, turning the tides by viciously dropping Charlotte to the floor two separate times. Little Miss Bliss’ attacks were continuous, giving Flair no breathing room whatsoever (that guillotine, anyone?) and having an answer for every comeback The Queen attempted to mount. Flair was finally able to get back into the contest with a desperation powerbomb that evened the playing field. From there, the two busted out their best with Five Feet of Fury kicking out of Natural Selection and avoiding a picture-perfect moonsault. Flair escaped defeat from Bliss’ signature DDT by getting her foot on the bottom rope just in the nick of time. The SmackDown Women’s Champion powered on, despite her ribs having been brutalized throughout the duration of the contest. She connected with a jaw breaking kick to Bliss’ face before locking in the Figure-Eight Leglock for the win to give SmackDown a 3-2 advantage on the scorecard. Typically, deities outrank royal figures. On this night, however, The Goddess bowed down to The Queen.Read more

We also get a closer look at Alexa Bliss this week, specifically her relationship with Maryse. The veteran Superstar has taken Alexa under her wing and announces with great fanfare her plans to make over Little Miss Bliss’ punk chic aesthetic into something a bit more runway-friendly, as she’s fast becoming a marquee representative of the company. Bliss is gently told by the higher-ups that the idea is worth pursuing, so she goes shopping with Maryse in Tokyo to try some new looks. Nia Jax, who knows Alexa has a history of image-consciousness she’s worked hard to overcome, isn’t thrilled about this, but it takes a conversation with Lilian Garcia on her podcast to give Alexa the nerve to tell Maryse thanks, but no thanks. Maryse, of course, never wanted to change who Alexa is and is totally fine with Bliss having her own look, but letting Alexa pick out outfits for her is where she draws the line.
